Reflux means that the contents of the stomach, i.e. acid and bile content, escape backwards into the oesophagus. Since it is not where it should be, it creates an environment that causes some burns at the lower end of the oesophagus and some complaints here. When we look at it, some complaints arise due to the acid and bile burning or irritating the lower end of the oesophagus, the most important of which is bitter sour water coming into the patient's mouth, sometimes chest pains and these chest pains can turn into such a situation that patients may sometimes have to go to emergencies as if they are having a heart attack. Already more than fifty per cent of chest pains are non-cardiac pains, and one of the biggest causes of these is the pain caused by this reflux disease. Apart from this, some problems occur in the form of asthma attacks due to inhalation of the content. Ear pain, chest pain, bifurcations in the voice, and sometimes patients may have serious reflux leaks leading to tooth decay. But the most common findings we encounter are generally belching, eating and drinking coming back to the mouth. As I said, these are the problems that we may encounter in daily life, such as pain in the upper and middle parts of the abdomen.
